Clay-Platte Trackers of Kansas City
American Volkssport Association (AVA)
Walking is a great way to get some exercise, relieve stress, meet new people, or to just see some new areas around Kansas City.
The Clay-Platte Trackers Walking club has been setting up and managing various walking trails in the Kansas City area since 1992.
A year–round/seasonal event is a self-guided walking event available most days of the year. Our club selects a trail, draws maps, and writes detailed walking instructions, and sets up a permanent starting location. You can find starting locations for our year-round walks in this brochure. At the start point is a “walk box”. You generally ask the proprietor at the start location to point out or get the box for you. Inside the walk box is a registration log. For liability reasons everyone walking must sign the log. Also in the box is a start card and a trail map. There will also be instructions on payment (either leave the money in the box or mail to the club). Now, you can enjoy the walk at your own pace for as long as you desire (daytime hours only please!). If you get lost or have concerns the walking directions will have a point of contact you can call. At the end of your walk you will return back to the start location and turn in your start card. If you walk for IW credit you will find a stamp in the walk box for stamping your books.
